Pre-Health Letter Packet and Pre-Health Workshop Information:

â–¼   Letter Packet Information for Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental

Letter Packets for Students Applying to Medical School or Dental School

To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.00 ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½ GPA. In addition, students should have no lower than a 3.0 math/science GPA.

To apply:

1. Complete the

After completing the biographical and academic information, choose your writers for letters of recommendation. You must include a minimum of 3 letter writers from which 2 are science faculty who taught you in lecture.  The third letter can be from a faculty member of your choice.  It is recommended that the third letter be from a non-science faculty member.  Faculty members may be from other institutions.

Up to 2 additional letter writers may be added and can include other faculty, a research mentor,  a work or volunteer supervisor, a physician, etc. 

Only include letter writers who have agreed to write an evaluation.  Useful information on requesting letters of recommendation can be found here 

 

2. Upload a 2x2 photo


3. Sign the Letter Waiver

All applicants  must electronically sign and date the letter waiver.  Each student receiving a Letter Packet must agree to waive their right, under the Family Education Rights and Privacy Acts, to view the individual letters and evaluations submitted on their behalf as well as the completed Letter Packet.

 

4. Letter Writer Instructions

Download and email the to each of your letter writers.  If you did not give your letter writers a copy of your resume when you asked if they would writer a recommendation letter include it now.

Stay in contact with letter writers. It is your responsibility to keep track of your letters but if you are having issues please reach out to us at prehealth@southalabama.edu for assistance.


5. Letter Packet Submission

You must submit your application through the application service (AMCAS, AACOMAS, AADSAS) before the letter packet is uploaded by the Pre-health Office. Do not delay submitting your application because you are waiting on your letters.  These will not be uploaded until after you submit.


In order for the Letter Packet to be uploaded you will  need to release your application to your advisor, Patty Davis (pmdavis@southalabam.edu). By releasing your application the advisor portal will populate with your submission. 


NO Letter Packet will be uploaded without this release.  If you choose not to release your application you will need to use individual letters of recommendation.


The advisor portal will be checked on Monday and Friday morning and Letter Packets will be uploaded at that time if all recommendation letters have been received.  If letters are missing, you will be notified via email from prehealth@southalabama.edu.

  • Huntsville Rural Pre-Medical Internship is a seven week summer program for pre-medicine students interested in rural primary care. The deadline to apply if usually at the beginning of February each year.
