Homecoming 2024 Events Announced

It鈥檚 homecoming, and the Jags are jumpin鈥! This year鈥檚 theme is Timeless Traditions 鈥 like the annual Junk the Jungle. Get into the spirit with a weeklong lineup of festivities that include a Friday evening bonfire, pep rally, fireworks and a concert.

It鈥檚 time for students, alumni, faculty, staff and fans of all ages to get ready to celebrate Homecoming 2024 at the 天美影视传媒, with the theme 鈥淭imeless Traditions,鈥 Oct. 21-26.

Homecoming activities include Junk the Jungle, Battle of the DJs, a talent show, bonfire, pep rally and fireworks, including other student and alumni events. Visit the Homecoming website for a full list of activities.

One of the most anticipated events will be a live concert featuring chart-topper country artist Niko Moon with Grammy Award nominee Blanco Brown performing on Monday, Oct. 21, at 8 p.m. at the Mitchell Center. The concert tickets are free for South students, $10 for faculty and staff, and $20 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the .

鈥淛aguar Productions is thrilled to bring Niko Moon and Blanco Brown to South for this long-standing tradition, the Homecoming concert!" said Jaguar Productions President Simone Holmes. 鈥淚t鈥檚 going to be an amazing experience that will bring the campus community together for a good time.鈥

Moon established a successful career writing songs for artists like Pit Bull, the Zac Brown Band and Rascal Flatts. He has written many number-one songs and more than 40 major record-label cuts for various artists. Moon will be performing songs like 鈥淕ood Time,鈥 鈥淐oastin鈥欌 and 鈥淭hese are the Days.鈥 

Brown has been a songwriter and producer in pop and hip-hop. He鈥檚 made a name for himself in country music by blending classic country and traditional hip-hop sounds in songs like his platinum-certified single 鈥淭he Git Up.鈥 

鈥淗omecoming is a celebration of timeless traditions, reminding us that no matter where life takes us, we always carry a piece of the 天美影视传媒 with us,鈥 said Aimee Meyers, USA鈥檚 homecoming committee co-chair. 鈥淲e look forward to South celebrating with the entire community. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.鈥 

Homecoming events include:

On Monday, Oct. 21, the traditional 鈥淛unk the Jungle,鈥 for South students only, will be held from 6-7 p.m. at the USA Traffic Circle. Students should come ready to roll and celebrate. Toilet paper will be provided for this event sponsored by the Student Government Association. 

The Irving Presidential Lecture featuring sports writer and author Ivan Maisel will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 22, from 4-5 p.m. at the Chief Calvin McGhee Ballroom at the MacQueen Alumni Center.

That evening, the annual Battle of the DJs will begin at 6 p.m., with DJs competing for the title of 鈥淗ottest DJ in the South. The event is sponsored by Collegiate 100 and the Student Government Association.

On Friday, Oct. 25, USA Health will be hosting a culinary medicine demonstration at 10 a.m. where attendees will learn the importance of healthy eating led by Internal Medicine Physician Dr. Robert Israel. And, the Jaguar Volleyball team will celebrate 50 years at 6 p.m. at Jaguar Gym.

The annual homecoming bonfire and pep rally will be held from 5-7:30 p.m. on the Intramural Fields with a local band Sloth Racer to perform. Fireworks will end the night! 

The National Pan-Hellenic Council Homecoming Step Show will follow that same evening at the Mitchell Center with the show beginning at 7:30 p.m. are $10 for students; general admission tickets for the public will be $20; and day-of-show tickets will be $25.  

On Homecoming Day, Saturday, Oct. 26, the Athletics Hall of Fame ceremony starts at 10 a.m. at the Moulton Bell Tower and Alumni Plaza. The National Alumni Association will host a tailgate at the MacQueen Alumni Center for all alumni and friends of the University starting 3 hours before kickoff. And, the Jaguar football team will take on Louisiana Monroe (game time to be announced) at Hancock Whitney Stadium. Game day tickets can be purchased at . The homecoming parade and Jaguar Prowl will occur two hours and 15 minutes before kickoff. The presentation of the South homecoming court will be held at halftime, and homecoming awards will be announced at the end of the game.
