Longtime Employees Recognized at USA Mitchell Center Event

Six hundred and thirty seven ÌìÃÀÓ°ÊÓ´«Ã½ employees reaching five-year milestones were honored Sept. 18 at the Employee Service Recognition Program at the USA Mitchell Center.
In addition, staff and faculty awards sponsored by the USA National Alumni Association were announced.
Five faculty members were named recipients of 2014 National Alumni Association Faculty Awards, which recognize various aspects of teaching in higher education. The honored faculty members: Dawn McKinney, senior instructor, School of Computing, Andy and Carol Denny National Alumni Excellence in Teaching Award; Dr. Keith G. Blackwell, associate professor, department of earth sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, Beth and Don Davis National Alumni Excellence in Advising Award; Dr. Ronald P. Kiene, professor, department of marine sciences, College of Arts and Sciences, Olivia Rambo McGlothren National Alumni Outstanding Scholar Award; Dr. Thomas C. Rich, associate professor, department of pharmacology, College of Medicine, and Dr. Silas J. Leavesley, assistant professor, department of chemical and biomolecular engineering, College of Engineering, Russell and Robin Lea National Alumni Excellence in Faculty Innovation Award.
Six staff members received the 2014 Christie Miree USA National Alumni Association Outstanding Employee Award for excellent service provided to students, alumni and other constituencies. They are Deward C. Phillips Jr., maintenance mechanic II, facilities management, USA Medical Center, craft/trades category; Patricia A. Young, custodial worker II, student center, service category; Timothy X. Dexter, assistant director, supply, processing and distribution, Children’s & Women’s Hospital, technical category; Theresa Clark, ward clerk, high risk OB, Children’s & Women’s Hospital, clerical category; Angela S. Duffy, nurse manager, burn center, USA Medical Center, administrative category; and Anna K. Gillman, RTN III, STICU, USA Medical Center, professional category.
The Christie Miree recipients were chosen from the USA-Team, which recognizes outstanding employees who are nominated by their peers. The 2014 USA-Team honorees in University General: Academic Affairs -- Ashley S. Suggs, academic records specialist, registrar’s office, professional category; Athletics -- Elizabeth A. Callaghan, secretary III, clerical category; Health Sciences -- Michelle L. Mock, secretary V, College of Nursing dean’s office, clerical category; Dr. Viktoriya Pastukh, research assistant II, pharmacology, professional category; Financial Affairs -- Janice G. Rehm, human resources manager, human resources, administrative category; James R. Gorum, maintenance mechanic II, USA Springhill, crafts/trades category; Johnny M. Broadus, groundskeeping supervisor, grounds operations, service category; Cedric R. Crawley, safety & environmental specialist, safety & environmental compliance, technical category; Development & Alumni Relations -- Sheila A. Davis, executive assistant I, development and alumni relations, clerical category; Student Affairs -- Bonnie B. Carpenter, accounting clerk IV, housing, clerical category; Daphne L.
