Respondus LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor

LockDown Browser is a custom browser that locks down the testing environment in Canvas. When students use LockDown Browser to access a quiz, they are unable to print, copy, visit other websites, access other applications, or close a quiz until it is submitted for grading. Tests are created inside Canvas using the quiz tool. Students are not required to schedule an appointment.

Respondus Monitor builds upon the power of LockDown Browser, using the student's webcam to prevent cheating during non-proctored exams. To get more information about Respondus Monitor, visit their .

Introducing Screen Recording with Respondus Monitor

• Screen recording is only available for exams that use both LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor.
• Screen recording is supported for Windows, Mac and Chromebook. There are currently no plans to offer screen recording for iPad users.

NOTICE: ProctorU is now using the Guardian Browser for test takers and not the Firefox or Chrome extensions. You must download the in order to take exams with ProctorU. If you do not have the Guardian Browser prior to your session, you will be prompted to download the Browser. 

You will also be prompted to download and run LogMeIn Rescue so that proctors can enter the exam access codes to access the exam.

NOTE: At this time, Chromebooks are NOT supported for exams proctored by ProctorU using the Guardian Browser.

ProctorU-Live+

If your course is originally marked fully online with section numbers of 80x (801, 802, etc.), and you plan to use a proctoring service for exams, then a notice of an online testing requirement must be indicated in the University Schedule of Courses for students prior to registering.

ProctorU-Live is a student pay option that requires instructors and students to create an account and download .

Instructors are responsible for creating the exam in Canvas and also loading the exam details in ProctorU. Students will go to ProctorU to schedule an appointment, pay, and take their exam.

Appointment Scheduling Procedure ProctorU-Live+

ProctorU-Live requires students to schedule appointments on their website. All appointments for ProctorU live should be scheduled at least four days in advance of the test or exam. Reservations made within four days of your exam are subject to a $5 late reservation fee. Late registrations are subject to availability and same day appointments cannot be made online. To schedule an appointment with ProctorU-Live follow the procedure below:

4. Once the account is created, or if an account already exists, log in.

In order to use Review+, instructors and students will need to onto your appropriate operating system (Windows or Mac).

Review+ is a great solution for low- or mid-stakes quizzes and exams. This solution combines a live environment scan and launch process with our technology solutions and professional review so fewer exams need your attention. Review+ ensures that suspicious behavior is investigated by our professional review team and reported to you, once confirmed. We provide all necessary evidence of an integrity breach should you choose to take action.

Student Pricing for ProctorU-Review+

ProctorU-Record+

In order to use Record+, students will need to onto your appropriate operating system (Windows or Mac).

ProctorU-Record+ requires students to create an account for first time users on their website, and to be able to take the exam inside the LMS system. These exams are on-demand and do not require a scheduled appointment. Students open the Guardian Browser then log into the course and take the exam at the regular time.

RPNow Nursing

RPNow requires students to create an account for first time users. These exams are on-demand and do not require a scheduled appointment. Students will navigate to the RPNow website provided by their instructor to take the exam.
