Growing Up Down the Bay

Growin Up Down the Bay April 26-May 31 Ben May Library

Children who grew up Down the Bay, the area south of Government Street, have fond memories of the neighborhood. Learn more about growing up in the community through oral history interviews from the and artifacts from the I-10 Mobile River Bridge Archaeology Project and consider how childhood has (and hasn't) changed through time.

The exhibit traveled to the Mobile Public Libraries during Summer 2024 and is available for display. If you'd like to host this traveling exhibit, please reach out to us at cas@southalabama.edu. It consists of six pop-up banners and fits easily in a hallway or lobby.
