Information technology professionals utilize state-of-the-art, computer-based tools to deliver today’s rapidly evolving computing technology to knowledge workers in widely diverse situations. The information technologist must be prepared to work in the complex network and World-Wide-Web environments to meet the needs of the end users in today’s organizations. These tasks require bringing solutions together using the different technologies developed by the computer engineers, computer scientists, and information scientists.
The academic program consists of a foundation in computing with specializations areas in digital forensics, networking, and web publishing.
Students wishing to complete the approved Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) cybersecurity designated program of study must declare their major as a BS in Information Technology with Networking concentration.
The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that employment in computer and information technology occupations will grow 13% from 2020 to 2030, adding 667,600 new jobs, faster than many other occupational sectors.
